Nature has always fascinated us with its unique and various creations. Particularly amazing is nature’s repetitive and versatile use of twists and spirals, from the microscopic double helix structure in our DNA, to the awesome funnel of a tornado, to the nebulous swirl of a galaxy, and everything else in between.
Nature’s spiral became the main inspiration for this cap. The twisted stitch patterning replicates the twisting nature of a tidal whirlpool and yields a texture reminiscent of a spiraling aloe. Using self-striping or hand-painted yarn adds additional interest to the stitch texture.
Instructions include several options: working entire hat in one piece from visor to crown, working in two pieces, or without visor. Twisted stitch texture is continuous from visor to crown.
