Elizabeth Zimmermann (August 9, 1910–November 30, 1999), affectionally called EZ by knitters, is practically a goddess among knitters and could easily be dubbed the “Mother of Modern Knitting.” Mrs. Zimmermann was a British-born knitter known for revolutionizing the modern practice of knitting through her books and instructional series on American public television. .
Elizabeth Zimmermann is worked in one piece, starting at the brim, which is worked in the round. Both the main body and shirred panel are worked flat and then rejoined via seaming. Instructions for several different accessories will allow you to personalize and change the the look of your hat.
