Both the main body and shirred panel are worked flat and then rejoined via seaming.  Instructions for several different accessories will allow you to personalize and change the the look of your hat. Product Description

Elizabeth Zimmermann (August 9, 1910–November 30, 1999), affectionally called EZ by knitters, is practically a goddess among knitters and could easily be dubbed the “Mother of Modern Knitting.” Mrs. Zimmermann was a British-born knitter known for revolutionizing the modern practice of knitting through her books and instructional series on American public television. .

US 2/ 2.75 mm 16”/ 40 cm circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge; 1 extra circular needle (optional)
US 2/ 2.75 mm needles for working small circumferences, or size to obtain gauge
US 1/ 2.25 mm needle, or 1-2 sizes smaller than larger needle
Stitch markers
Removable markers (optional)
Darning needle

Gauge
29 sts and 42 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in St st on larger needles. For proper fit, it is important to work, block and check a gauge swatch.
